Questions

Can I use my own bulb?

Yes. The socket is a standard E26. Use an LED bulb of up to 9 W and no taller than 14 cm, so it stays inside the shade.

Which mount should I choose?

The weighted base stands anywhere and can move between rooms. The clamp frees the desk surface and gives you a little more reach over a deep desk. You can buy the other mount later as a part.

Does the brass tarnish?

Yes. The knuckle and cap are left unlacquered, so they darken where your hand touches them. A brass polish brings back the shine if you prefer it.

What happens if something breaks?

Write to us with a photo. Inside the warranty we send the part free. After it, every part is sold on this site, and the hex key in the box is the only tool you need.

Is the Fern clamp coming back?

Yes. The next batch of Fern clamps is being painted now. Fern with the weighted base is in stock.

Notes from the workshop

We spent two years on Model 2 and most of that time went into the knuckle. The first versions used a friction disc and drifted down over a week. The counterweight was slower to get right, because every shade weighs a little differently once it is painted, but once the weight is matched to the shade the arm stays exactly where you leave it.

Each lamp is assembled and tested by one person, who signs the setup card in the box. If you ever need to write to us about your lamp, the name on that card is who will answer.
